Come and check out all the improvements made over the winter and spring, including an enlarged area for rigging and viewing, enhanced beach access, and a safer and more user-friendly Windsport Park.

All work was done in accordance with concerns for the environment, resulting in a park that is attractive and natural looking. More enhancements will be made in the future as funds become available.

The park was made possible with grants from the District of Squamish, donated plans and drawings from Jamie Martin, reduced rates for environmental work from Cascade Environmental Consultants and reduced rates from Ole Mau and Coast Mountain Excavations.

A special thank you goes out to the Mayor and Council of the district of Squamish for supporting this project. We are grateful for the guidance and assistance provided by District Employees Francesca Knight, Bob Kusch, and former district employee Bruce Goldsworthy.

The Windsport Park has been the dream of many volunteers over the past twenty years and it is gratifying to see it becoming a reality. It will be a great asset to the region and will continue to attract tourists from far and wide, beginning with the Canadian Windsurfing Championships in July.

On behalf of the Directors and Members of the Squamish Windsports Society, thank you to the people of Squamish.

The Squamish Windsports Society is a non-profit society providing sailors with access to high wind sailing where the Squamish River meets Howe Sound. Squamish has more high performance sailing days on the water than most other places in North America. Warm winds and sunshine are a blessing to all those people familiar with cold and blustery storm fronts which power windsurfing and kite sails in most other places across the country...
