Safety Regulations Become a SWS Member

Parking
  • Angle park on the west side with your vehicle facing west.
  • Park close to your neighbor to make room for more cars.
  • Gear drop off area is not for parking.
Children
  • Ask site staff for a safety orientation.
  • Keep children away from equipment, especially sharp fins and kite lines.
  • Do not set up picnic areas, or stand in high traffic areas, that will impede movement.
  • Watch children at all times, and do not leave them unattended.
  • Remember kite sailors and windsurfers carrying gear are often at the mercy of the wind.

Dogs
  • Leave dogs tied in shaded area and NOT in the car.
  • Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times; never leave dogs on the loose unattended.
  • Scoop dogs poop immediately.
Rigging Areas and Walkways
  • Rig only what you will immediately sail.
  • Do not leave gear on the walkway.
  • Keep the walkways and the areas around the southern end of the rigging area clear at all times.
  • Persons carrying gear have right of way at all times spectators and persons launching kites.
Spectators
  • Please ask site staff for an orientation.
  • Do not set up picnic areas at the south end of the rigging area.
  • Rigging space is limited. Please use our rigging areas sparingly.
Sailing
  • Caution: submerged sandbars, deadheads, trees, and rocks.
  • River area: advanced to expert, strong currents, glacier-fed cold water.
  • Bay area: excellent beginner to intermediate area, at low tide (when sand bar is available for launching) some areas are shallow enough to allow sailors to walk back to the launch area.
  • Ask staff and fellow sailors for orientation.
Retrieval Services
  • Kite Sailing beach pick up at scheduled times only.
  • Donations are appreciated to help defray the costs of gas for retrieval.
